The following states have permitless carry which allows anyone that can legally possess a firearm carry conceal:  Alaska, Arizona, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, Vermont and West Virginia.  Some restrictions may apply.  Check each state for its own restrictions.

Open carry is legal in Alabama if a person is 19 years old or older and legally able to have a firearm. You are required to have a permit to carry a loaded gun in a vehicle

How long does it take to get a concealed weapons permit in Alabama

The Sheriffs office is required by law to process an application for a concealed carry permit within 30 days.

Can I carry a gun in my car in Alabama

A person legally permitted to own a gun, but who does not have a valid concealed weapon permit, may have an unloaded pistol in their vehicle if the pistol is locked in a  container that is in or attached securely to the vehicle and out of reach of the driver and any passenger in the vehicle.

    • Inside a facility which provides inpatient or custodial care of those with psychiatric, mental, or emotional disorders.
    • Inside a courthouse or courthouse annex
    • Prison, jail, halfway house, community corrections facility, or other detention facility for those who have been charged with or convicted of a criminal or juvenile offense.
    • Building in which a District Attorney’s office is located
    • Building in which a county commission or city council is currently having a meeting
    • Any place where federal law prohibits guns
